BARNT Green under-11s completed a successful season by securing the prestigious Premier League title.
Competing in the six strong Worcester Cricket Board Premier League, the team went into final league game level on points with Old Swindford and Rushick CC.
Batting first on a challenging damp pitch, Fergus Roll and Henry Cullen added 40 for the first wicket against the impressive opening seamers of Turner and Sidaway before Roll was neatly stumped.
Dan Meredith (24) and Cullen (30) batted sensibly and intelligently running excellent short singles and were the main contributors in the Green’s competitive first innings score of 90-5.
The excellent new ball attack of Childs and Meredith then restricted Old Swindford to just 21-2 from the first eight overs.
With only Tom Slater (27) posing any threat the home side batsman were never up with the rate and had no answer to Barnt Green’s tight bowling and tidy fielding as they fell 11 runs short.
