MATT Neal was out-shone by Honda Yuasa team mate Gordon Shedden in the latest rounds of the British Touring Car Championships at Donington Park.
While three-time champion Neal finished eighth, fifth and then bagged a podium spot with third in the final race, his Scottish partner demonstrated he was getting to grips with the new Civic Tourer.
Shedden, himself champion in 2012, secured a first ever victory for the estate car.
“The weight hurt me a little in qualifying,” confessed Neal.
“Just two tenths-of-a-second would have moved me six or seven places up the grid.
“I’m stoked for ‘Flash’ in race three. I was willing him on – to have a bird’s eye-view of his last couple of laps was awesome! To get a podium for the team myself and see the Tourer get its first win this weekend makes me proud.”
