DROITWICH Amateur Boxing Academy’s Joe Doyle, 12, bounced back in style from his disappointing National Schools Championship semi-final defeat with a convincing win in the Box Cup Final in Bristol on Saturday.
The Spa youngster returned to winning ways by beating two-time Welsh national champion Korban Crocker with the judges scoring all three rounds to Doyle as his accurate punching and powerful hand speed proved too much for his opponent to handle.
Adding to his Midlands Schools title, this latest accolade provides Doyle with a welcome confidence boost ahead of his trip to Ireland next month to compete for club and country in the European Box Cup Championships.
The three-day event held in Monkstown, Dublin, will see the 12-year-old Droitwich boxer pit his wits against some of the best young boxing talent from the continent drawn from nine nations.
