King's Lynn Town 3 - 1 Redditch United

DEBUTANT Stuart Fleetwood saw red as Redditch United let slip a half-time lead at league leaders King’s Lynn Town.

The Reds hit the front against the run of play courtesy of a 30-yard screamer from Ashley Sammons but two Michael Clunan penalties turned the tide with Cameron Norman sealing the spoils after striker Fleetwood had been dismissed for a late lunge on Ryan Hawkins.

Simon Lappin’s whipped cross was almost converted by Ryan Fryatt before Sam Gaughran’s appeal for a spot-kick was waved away as the Linnets bossed the opening exchanges.

Lappin hit the upright on 29 minutes but Redditch soaked up the pressure and struck when Sammons unleashed his blockbuster which flew unerringly past keeper Alex Street.

Dior Angus might have doubled the advantage shortly after the restart but was thwarted by Street’s point-blank save.

Gaughran then missed a sitter, scooping over from Michael Gash’s knockdown but King’s Lynn were back on terms when Fryatt was felled by Gui Mailancol with Clunan slotting away from 12 yards.

Fryatt had a header cleared off the line and Craig Parker’s effort went inches wide as the hosts upped the ante in search of the lead.

And it soon arrived as a hefty challenge on Norman by Andi Thanoj resulted in another penalty with Clunan again taking responsibility to put Town in front on 68 minutes.

Ryan Jarvis hit the post for King’s Lynn before Fleetwood’s indiscretion dented any hope of a Redditch revival.

Norman settled the verdict five minutes from time, setting off on a driving run with his shot kissing the inside of the upright en route to goal.
