WORCESTERSHIRE County League Division One first XI title race will go into the last week of the season as Bewdley failed to get the twelve points they required.

Second placed Stourport gained a maximum point win against Hagley at Walshes Meadow however Bewdley require just one point from their last match at Worcester Nomads next week to guarantee the title as they finished yesterday twenty four points ahead of their closest rivals.

The day belonged to Feckenham as the East Worcestershire outfit made the trip south to play third placed Evesham (at Broadway Cricket Club) and left with maximum points thanks to Tom Coulson’s first innings haul of 7-65.

Results in the Birmingham and District Premier League mean sixth place in the Worcestershire County League Division One could qualify for a place in next season's County Premier League as only six first XI teams from the B&DPCL would be repositioned into the County Premier League during a restructure for next season.

If the status quo remains in the B&DPCL and Brockhampton survive the drop this means that Worcester are currently the team in position to gain as they lie in sixth place just three points clear of Hagley in seventh and seven points ahead of Colwall in eighth.

Elsewhere, the matches between Burghill and Worcester Nomads and Pedmore and Chaddesley were abandoned.

In Division Two first XI Oldswinford require another nine points from their remaining match next week to gain the title as Matthew Broad kept the Black Country men at the top of the table with an excellent first innings spell of 8-34 for a win at Bartestree.

However, this did not prove enough to claim the title as second placed Coombs Wood enjoyed a maximum points win against basement side Wormelow thanks to an excellent first innings batting performance which saw Carl Whyte post an undefeated 118 and G Abbas score103 as the home side posted 315-4.

In other matches, Belbroughton secured third position following a comfortable six wicket victory against Kempsey, Bromyard remain in fourth and will be thankful for the rain after their match against Himbleton was abandoned.

Phillip Thomas took 6-34 in the first innings for fifth placed Droitwich who beat Enville who now find themselves in seventh position as Martin Hill scored a quick-fire undefeated 91 to enable Bredon to overcome Old Vigornians and leap frog Enville into sixth.

The battle for position in Division Three first XI took an unexpected turn yesterday as last week's fourth placed team Rushwick gained what now looks like an excellent losing draw against Champions Lye at home.

After the visitors had posted 330 in the first innings (thanks to another century from the prolific Waqas Ahmed), Phil Hamilton responded with a fine 89 in the second innings to ensure Rushwick passed the required losing draw total and gained ten valuable points from the match.

Third placed Netherton and Martley were abandoned and Harborne were bowled out for just 38 in the first innings at Avoncroft (for whom Paul Athey took 6-19 and Jonathan Hunter 4-18).

This all means that Rushwick are now in second position, four points ahead of Netherton who are third and seven points clear of Harborne who slipped to fourth. A win for Rushwick next week against Eastnor at home will guarantee a second place finish.

Elsewhere, Edd Rodgers continued his fantastic form with the bat by passing 1,000 runs for the season as he stroked 72 in the first innings of Alvechurch & Hopwood’s rain reduced winning draw against Hanley Castle and Upton.

Bromsgrove remain in mid table following a six wicket victory against basement side Malvern and Will Parton took 7-59 for Eastnor who overcame visitors Five Ways Old Edwardians by five wickets.

The race for the title in Division Four first XI is still wide open as three teams can still become champions.

Halesowen are in pole position as Naim Luhar (90*) and Talha Ikhlaq (54*) put on an unbroken first wicket stand of 157 to guide them to a fantastic maximum point ten wicket victory against Tenbury Wells.

This leaves them just four points clear of Astwood Bank in second who were made to work hard for their two wicket victory at West Malvern and ten points clear of Romsley & Hunnington who remain third after Scott Robbins took an excellent 7-17 in the first innings to help secure a six wicket victory against Stourport.

In other matches Tom Grainger scored 98 not out as Claverley remained fourth following a winning draw against Alveley and the match between Hallow Taverners and Himley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Stourbridge and Kidderminster (for whom James Williams scored an undefeated 110) fell foul to the weather at the half way stage.
