BROMSGROVE Sporting boss Brendan Kelly couldn't disguise his dismay this week after midfield man Liam Armstrong chose to leave the club.

Armstrong had impressed in the Rouslers recent League Cup defeat to Alvechurch but has now decided to move on.

Kelly confirmed: "Liam couldn't start the season because he'd picked up a ban from some minor cup competition while playing for Shawbury United.

"He played really well against Alvechurch and was the one player that I brought in who really caught the eye.

"But he wasn't prepared to wait for his chance and didn't portray the commitment that is required.

"I made six changes in total and I was really pleased with the display despite going down 1-0.

"We were down to 10 me after half an hour when Jason Cowley was sent off.

"He's only just come back from a five match ban and now he will miss three more games.

"What impressed me the most was the fact we kept going right to the very end despite being down to 10 men and I thought it was a better performance than our victories over Kidlington and Aylesbury".

The Rouslers entertain Welwyn Garden City this Saturday at the Victoria Ground and Kelly insisted: "This will be a better test to find out where we are.

"Welwyn have started well this season after coming up from Step 5 and are only one point behind us".

Kelly can select from a position of strength as former Wrexham player Tom Taylor is now back in full training while Danny Jackman got 80 minutes under his belt against Alvechurch.

Kelly is also likely to recall Ashanti Pryce following an impressive loan spell at Bilston Town Community but Liam Spink is likely to be loaned out in his attempts to build match fitness.
