ALI Pretty is on the cusp of racking up 1,000 runs for Himbleton in 2018 going into tomorrow's season finale against Droitwich.

The ding-dong derby will carry an extra edge after Pretty's 106 against Bromyard last weekend saw him move on to 991 for the campaign with the Worcestershire County League outfit.

It was his fifth century of a prolific season and his second in as many weeks, helping the Meadow Boys to a competitive maiden voyage into Division Two territory.

Pretty's 11 fours and four sixes saw him put on a whopping 216 for the second wicket alongside unbeaten opener Rich Sugden (103) to leave purring skipper Stuart Dickenson hopeful of seeing a milestone reached at Harrow Lane (12.30).

“Having been put in on a wicket that gave the bowlers plenty of help in damp conditions, I was mightily impressed with the way Suggy and Ali went about their business," said Dickenson.

"The pair complement each other really well and it was a joy to watch.

"I’m pleased Suggy reached his century from the ball before we came off for rain, his innings deserved a hundred and we’ll all have everything crossed for Ali against Droitwich.

"Reaching the milestone of 1,000 runs at this standard would be a tremendous achievement.”
