STOURPORT race ace Reece Lycett has become the youngest ever person to race in Formula 1000.

Lycett, who has now made the transition from karts to cars, competed in his first race weekend at Croft in the TCR UK series just three days after his 16th birthday.

After a damp qualifying session he started the first race in seventh place on the grid. However, he soon worked his way up the field to bag a podium place for his first contest at the new level and again made history as the youngest to achieve the feat.

A moving from seventh to fourth in race two he then finally got to compete in dry conditions during the final race.

He started fifth but dropped to 10th after a poor start before workinghis way to a seventh-placed finish with his fastest lap just 0.6 seconds off the leader's pace.
