WORCESTER Rugby Club's Raptors under 11s were victorious in their competitive season opener at Dudley Kingswinford.

The boys and girls from both sides battled through torrential rain after being split up to create four games.

Raptors had the upper hand and their Blue team won 9-0 on tries with Sufiyaan Riaz and Callum Child winning the ball for Jack Rees, Jack Patrick and James Bury to attack.

Theo Mills and Caspar Weston passed on to powerhouses Joe Dowling and Liam Foley with Oliver Gibson getting around the pitch.

The second game was closer but Raptors won again after clawing their way back.

The Gold team also claimed two wins inspired by the runs of Freddie Everton, Harry Flood and May Hall and tackling of Emerson Parkes, Josh Cound and Adem Gocmen.

Louis Kidner, Rohan Stewart and Sam Ward linked up well with aggressive rucking from Hassan Fiaz, Charlie Flood and Archie McDonald.

Raptors head coach Lee Parkes said: “Despite the conditions I was extremely pleased with the tenacity of all of our players.

"The hard work in pre-season training has clearly paid off and I would like to extend my thanks to the committed and capable coaching staff."
