FABULOUS Fairfield Villa hammered Hampton 8-1 to cement fourth place in Midland League Division Two.

Villa came flying out of the traps to go 3-0 up after 18 minutes and never looked back.

Connor Collins claimed a hat-trick while Ellis Blakemore converted two more.

Further goals followed from Alex Dugmore, Connor Gifford and Jarrad Hill.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes said: "It should have been more. Connor Collins missed two open goals and then hit the post with a header, while Ellis missed further chances to score as well.

"I know it sounds mean complaining after you've won 8-1 but Hampton weren't that strong and we should have taken more advantage."

Villa were due to visit Littletons this week in the Smedley Crook Cup before travelling to Coventry Alvis on Saturday.

But Villa will be missing long-term injury victims Dan Wilkes, who has hamstring problems, while Kyle Xavier is out with a broken wrist.
