HIGH flying Fairfield Villa made it a magnificent seven straight league wins with a 3-1 success over Coton Green this week.

The result means Villa still remain unbeaten in the league at their fortress Recreation Ground this season.

But Villa spokesman Paul Oakes admitted: "It was a real battle at times against Coton Green and our first goal from Alfie Bloomer was a bit fortuitous as his shot from fully 25 yards out squirmed underneath the Green's goalkeeper and rolled into the net.

"Yet once we'd got that first goal, we never looked like losing."

Connor Collins increased the advantage with substitute Dan Wilkes providing a third goal.

Coton Green grabbed a late consolation, although Oakes insisted: "There was a blatant foul leading to the goal. I don't think they really deserved the consolation."

Villa's winning streak will be put to the test this Saturday when they travel to face fourth-placed Moors Academy on Boldmere St Michael's artificial pitch.
