BUSY Bromsgrove Sporting boss Brendan Kelly hopes to bring in a new striker ahead of this Saturday’s top of the table clash at league leaders Peterborough Sports.

Talks are at an advanced stage to bring in a former Football League frontrunner in time for Saturday’s showdown.

Kelly is eager to get more fire-power on board to cover for the injured Richard Gregory.

But there was no shortage of goals on display to entertain another bumper Victoria Ground crowd this week as the Rouslers rampaged to a 5-0 win over Kempston Rovers.

Jason Cowley converted twice and together with strike partner Gregory took their combined goal tally past the 50 mark for the season.

Tom Taylor also struck twice while John Pykett smashed a possible goal of the season contender with a 30 yard special.

Kelly claimed: “It was especially pleasing as Kempston were one of the form teams having gone nine games unbeaten.

“They were much better than when we played them in December and had a lot more pace and power about them.

“But we were relentless and didn’t put a foot wrong.

“John Pykett’s goal was a cracker, straight into the top corner. It’s already had over 2,000 views on social media!

Kelly brought in Aaron Roberts to replace the unavailable Liam Spink while Cameron Peters took over from the absent Gregory.

The victory was witnessed by another splendid crowd of 924 and Kelly added:

“It’s creeping up to the average with new people coming every week, which is great to see.

“We’re hoping to have plenty of supporters at Peterborough and I see no reason why we won’t as they’ve never let us down before.

“It’ll be a strange game as we go there in the unusual position of being underdogs.

“Every since we played them first time, I’ve said they’re the best side in this league and they show no signs of slipping up. All we can do is go there and do our best”.

Kelly will wait on the fitness of Tom Taylor who is struggling with strained ankle ligaments.
