KING'S School Worcester's first XV will head to the Natwest Bowl final at the city's Sixways Stadium next month.

They enjoyed an exciting 33-31 comeback home win over Ampleforth College from North Yorkshire in the semis.

King’s held the upper hand for the first 10 minutes but failed to score and saw their opponents get two quick tries.

Josh Moorhouse responded with his first try of the season but two further efforts gave Ampleforth a 24-7 half-time lead.

King's pulled the game back to 24-19 with two tries from Will Bishop.

With 10 minutes left they conceded a fifth try but then Willem Humphreys cut through for the hosts' fourth to set up a tense last few minutes.

Sustained pressure and a series of pick and goes on the Ampleforth line were eventually rewarded with a third try for Bishop in the last play.

Fly-half Ethan Summerwill held his nerve for the conversion to clinch the win.

King's director of sport Jonny Mason said: “Reaching the final of this competition is a big achievement for the team.

"They’ve worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of their performance in the tournament so far.”

The final is on March 19.
