STOURPORT and Chaddesley Corbett are the early Worcestershire League Premier Division pace-setters with two consecutive wins after impressive home performances.

Chaddesley lead by four points as Waqas Ahmed (93) and Mohammed Sajid (82) helped them to 265-9 before a third player Waqas Ahmed took 6-30 to dismiss Redditch for 154.

Stourport star Ryan Derrick led them to a five-wicket victory over Worcester with 63 not out.

Old Elizabethans gained their first victory of the season with a four-wicket home success over last season’s top-flight champions Bewdley.

The visitors were bowled out for 104 as debutant Sam Harn (5-30) and Dan Colburn (3-44) reduced them to 48-6.

A 36-run opening stand helped OEs to a winning 106-6 in under 23 overs with Tom Goodwin scoring 38 and Jamie Boyle 22.

Division One favourites Hagley won by six wickets at Bredon while Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social beat Droitwich Spa by 83 runs despite a stylish 55 from Paul Bryan in their 119 all out and 4-44 from Adam Keen.

Ollie Ranscombe helped Worcester Nomads get off to a flier with 70 in a three-wicket home win over Belbroughton with nine overs left.

Belbroughton scored 175-8 after Ben Schiffmann (3-39) bowled both openers alongside leg-spinner Josh Hawes’ 2-37.

Nomads’ Chris Abel (18 not out) guided them over the finishing line after Belbroughton fought back following opener Guy Davies’ 47 and Ranscombe’s classy knock.

Cookley and Colwall overcame Pedmore and Coombs Wood respectively while there was a tie between Herefordshire rivals Bromyard and Burghill, Tillington and Weobley.

Halesowen top Division Two on beating Bromsgrove by seven wickets.

Marcus D’Oliveira hit 57 and Tom Oakley 55 to help Ombersley post 244-8 in their 151-run win over Bartestree and Lugwardine.

Martley lead Division Three after a 99-run win at Stourbridge with Barnards Green second after thrashing Pershore by 157 runs helped by Monzur Ahmed’s 5-24.

Alex Basford (56) and Dan Johnson (57no) starred in Martley’s 225-7.

Kempsey are third as 67no from Chris Jones helped them to a 35-run victory over Old Elizabethans despite 56 from Chris Pearman and 32 from Louis Dear.

Netherton won a tight match at Rushwick by 14 runs.

Avoncroft had a winning draw against Redditch with Steve Eastham scoring 138 as did Old Vigornians against Old Hill with Joe Sullivan getting 132 off 156 balls with 11 fours and seven sixes.

Sullivan, who at 19 was the youngest player to captain the first XI after standing in for Alex Parker, enjoyed only his eighth innings for OVs.

OVs, fielding eight teenagers, were dismissed for 268 with Max Richardson adding 65 and Henry Armstrong 18 before Old Hill closed on 192-4 with two wickets each for debutant Tom Gidney and Ed Burgoyne.

In Division Five, 115 from Rory Mathews and 85no from Ollie Price ensured Hanley Castle and Upton won at Hagley with Josh Benson-Smith taking 6-42 in the 77-run win.

Veteran Pete Gurr compiled 85 as West Malvern scored 288-6 to beat Worcester Nomads by 153 runs.

Spinner Rhys John picked up 4-12 as Droitwich beat Feckenham by seven wickets.
