REDDITCH CC moved top of the Worcestershire County Premier League with victory over bottom-placed Feckenham.

Waqas Ali and Ghulam Moyhuddin bowled out their hosts in fine style to seal 80-run success last Saturday.

Redditch had set Feckenham 151 after being put into bat at Mill Lane.

Skipper Russell Southwick top scorers with 42 to help his side recover from a shaky start as Tom Coulson (5-34) was quick to remove the middle order.

Number eight Thomas Phelan added an important 22 to boost his side's total.

Southwick only used Ali (6-35) and Moyhuddin (4-35) to steer his side to a victory that sees them leapfrog Chaddesley Corbett at the top.

The captain was delighted with the win and hopes to continue to progress when they host seventh-placed Old Elizabethans this Saturday (1pm start).

He said: "It was a good win for us and it's been a really good start to the season.

"It's pleasing to be on top and hopefully we can keep building on that now.

"I'd have liked a few more runs than we got but on a green pitch I thought anything between 150 and 200 was going to be competitive and we'd be in with a chance.

"Both Waqas and Ghulam bowled brilliantly in tandem and that bowling attack has been a real positive for us so far this season.

"I didn't need to use any other bowlers and I just kept them going. When they are bowling like that it makes light work of being captain.

"Old Elizabethans have had a few good results mixed in with a few bad ones this season so we just need to see what side turns up. Either way, if we can keep doing what we've been doing then I'd be confident we can keep picking up wins and progressing as a side."
