LUKE English will continue to have his hamstring complaint assessed this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sporting Khalsa (3pm).

The wing-back withdrew from Saturday’s FA Vase clash with Highgate United during the hour before kick-off on the back of a problem sustained the previous weekend at Selston.

English had been ever present for City until that point and in fine form with manager Ashley Vincent hopeful another week of rest will do the trick.

“He was really tight after the Sunday and missed training during the week, coming in on the Thursday to work with Shan (Kincade, City’s sports therapist),” said Vincent.

“We wanted to give him all the time we could and the chance to play. He thought he felt okay and could run it off in the warm-up but pretty early on he realised it was far too tight.

“It was borderline whether he would end up pulling it so we didn’t take the risk and made the call.

“We will reassess it. If we were talking about a game coming up in midweek he would not have been fit but it is something we are continually monitoring. We will see where he is closer to the weekend.”
