WOLLASTON Lawn Tennis Club has held its annual ladies’ open tournament.
Sixteen pairs took to the club’s eight courts on Thursday, September 19 for more than four-hours of non-stop tennis.
Besides players from the home venue, off Prestwood Drive, Stourton, near Stourbridge, there were representatives from other clubs, including Halesowen, Stourbridge, Far Forest, Wall Heath, Bromsgrove, Bewdley and Studley.
They competed in two groups, with the winners from each eventually slogging it out in the final.
The ultimate winners were Kerry Hill and Jo Skym, from Stourbridge Tennis Club, who beat runners-up Marianne Allen and Louise Thomas, from Halesowen, 6-1.
A slap-up home-made lunch was also served up, along with wine and glasses of Pimm’s.
“It was a beautiful day at Wollaston – great food, lovely ladies and, of course, brilliant tennis,” said a jubilant Kerry Hill.
“Wollaston Ladies’ Open is one of the highlights of the local tennis calendar – not to be missed.”
Organiser Vincent Clutterbuck said: “It was a lovely day – one of our best ever.”
