DUDLEY Town did their prospects a power of good after pulling off an impressive 5-1 win over Pershore Town to go fifth in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Determined Dudley were soon in the driving seat as they built a 3-0 lead by half time thanks to goals from Todd Perry, Jay Hewitt and a Kieran Berry penalty.

Pershore produced a bit more resistance in the second half and pulled a goal back through Jamie Clark, but that was to prove little more than a consolation as the Robins responded with further goals from T J Davies and a second Toddy Perry strike.

Darlaston Town left it late before snatching a stoppage time winner as they secured a slender 1-0 win over Tividale based Smethwick Rangers.

Rangers had earlier ridden their luck when impressive young goalkeeper Ryan Pratt saved a penalty from Darlo's Isaac Cooper.

And Darlo's task was made more difficult when they had full-back Sam Causton sent off on 68 minutes for a reckless challenge on Smethwick's Jason Chilton.

But that didn't stop 10-men Darlo from taking the points when Tyrone Clarke-O'Connell's deep cross was headed down at the far post by Luke Charlton for Ricardo Ricketts to ram home.

Bilston Town were the only other winners when they pulled off a 3-1 win over AFC Bridgnorth.

Goals from Remi Birch and Alex Cameron added to an untimely own goal secured the points for the Steelmen who soar to sixth place.

The remainder of the programme was rained off and everyone will be hoping for better weather this Saturday as sides attempt to round off the year in style.

Dudley Town travel to strugglers Wem Town while Smethwick Rangers face the daunting task of a trip to runaway leaders Shifnal Town who have won all of their 14 league games to date.

Second-placed Bewdley Town wlll be hoping Shifnal slip up when they visit Bilston Town while improving Black Country Rangers travel to Worcester Raiders.

Bottom of the table Cradley Town will be hoping for a change in fortune next year as they round off 2019 with a clash at AFC Bridgnorth Town, while second from bottom Dudley Sports search for a shot-in-the-arm when they tackle Wolves Sporting Community away from home.
