Summary

LIVE: Bromsgrove Sporting v Stourbridge

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FT: Sporting 4 (T Taylor 24, Shorrock 40, Mills 76, M Taylor 90+3) Stourbridge 1 (Landell 11)
  • BROMSGROVE Sporting eventually overran nine-man Stourbridge after ex-Worcester City midfielders Nathan Hayward and Brad Birch saw red.
  • Andre Landell put the Glassboys in front against the run of play in the 11th minute but Tom Taylor was gifted the freedom of the penalty area to level either side of Hayward’s two bookings inside five minutes.
  • Will Shorrock squeezed through the legs of keeper James Wren to hand the Rouslers the lead five minutes before half-time but even that did not inspire more fluent action from the hosts.
  • The 10 men posed a threat from set pieces but the game was up when Birch saw red for a lunge on Leon Broadhurst, the Stourbridge legend who switched to Sporting in the summer.
  • With nine the visitors simply could not cope and a pair of their former players confirmed the inevitable.
  • Greg Mills netted the third within a minute of stepping off the bench and the Southern League Premier Division Central’s top scorer Mikey Taylor lobbing Wren in added time.
  • Sporting had all the early territory and should have led after eight minutes, Mikey Taylor guiding into the free Richard Gregory who dallied and allowed centre-half Jamie Willets to recover.
  • Gregory had the ball in the net from a similar opening moments later but was flagged offside and Landell then landed the sucker punch on the break, prodding past the advancing Dan Platt following a tidy passage of play.
  • Hayward was harshly carded for a high arm and Bromsgrove levelled from the free-kick that followed, Tom Taylor stuttering through a backline that stood off and allowed him to roll beyond Wren as he came off his line.
  • Broadhurst’s header across goal skipped just wide and Stourbridge’s task got harder when Hayward clattered into the back of livewire Charlie Dowd.
  • The pressure continued to build and Sporting led when Jack Wilson surged forward from full-back and rolled to Shorrock to finish from a tight angle.
  • There was little to choose between the sides in the second half until Birch needlessly went in late on Broadhurst who was near his own corner flag.
  • Try as they might, the nine could not land a blow and a former player confirmed the inevitable a minute after stepping off the bench.
  • Mills was found in space and jinked back and forth before getting the better of Josh Ezewele with his shot squirming through Wren’s arms.
  • A lofted ball over the top picked out Mikey Taylor to lob Wren three minutes into added time to complete the scoring.
