BROMSGROVE Sporting have received a £1,500 grant to keep their Victoria Ground pitch in pristine condition.

The Football Foundation, a charity that enables the Premier League, FA and Government to help improve football facilities at lower levels, has provided the grant.

The playing surface, despite gallant efforts by groundsman Steve Dipple and his team, was showing significant wear and tear during the winter due to the extraordinary amount of rain that fell.

The team had to put in a considerable effort to maintain it and ensure that fixtures could be fulfilled.

Mike Gardiner, the club's capital projects director who organised the successful bid for the grant, said: "I am delighted with the outcome.

"With virtually zero income at present, the money, which comes from the Foundation’s Pitch Preparation Fund, will make a significant contribution towards the cost of grass seed, pitch dressings, fertiliser and sand and help us prepare a top-class pitch for when football resumes."
