Paul Pridgeon believes it is only a matter of time before Jake Libby’s superb form for Worcestershire is recognised at international level.

Libby has enjoyed two excellent seasons since his move from Nottinghamshire to Worcestershire.

He finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the entire country BOTH years, in the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020 and the LV=Insurance County Championship in 2021.

For those two summers, Libby’s combined figures in red-ball cricket total 1573 runs at an average of 56.17 with five centuries.

The opener has not been included in the Lions squad for this winter’s trip to Australia but Pridgeon – Worcestershire’s Cricket Steering Group Chairman – believes he will eventually get the call from the selectors.

He said: “Jake has had two great years at Worcestershire, being prolific and consistent in that most challenging of roles for a batter, opening the innings.

“He has become the rock that the innings has been built on many times in red-ball cricket but also showed his worth in T20 and 50 over cricket.

“But I believe it will also not be long before he gets some international recognition, and it would be fully deserved if that happens.”
