Kettering Town recorded their first win of the league season with victory over Bromsgrove Sporting writes Max Banner.

Goals from Tyrone Lewthwaite and Kelvin Langmead helped steer the Poppies to success. Kieron Berry netted a late consolation for the Rouslers, as they fell to their fourth home defeat from as many games.

The opener came nine minutes in, as Lewthwaite capitalised on some wayward defending before slotting home coolly past Ollie Taylor.

Five minutes later, it was two - Langmead got on the ball after Sporting failed to clear it and powered a strike into the corner.

Bromsgrove had efforts to half the deficit in the first 45; Conor Tee and Miro Pais had opportunities but both were palmed away well by James Blunkell.

The Kettering keeper's fine performance continued - Jack Newell had a shot brilliantly saved in the 51st minute before he guided a Keanu Cooper strike wide of the mark smartly 19 minutes later.

The 80th minute saw Blunkell pull off a superb double save - a Billy Shaw drive was kept out before a Prince Henry effort was somehow blocked away in inspired fashion.

Henry thought he'd pulled one back in the second minute of added time but much to the indignation of Sporting fans, his header was adjudged to have been cleared off the line.

The Bromsgrove goal came seven minutes later, as Berry netted from close range after being set up by Prince Henry.

Despite losing Sporting remain 15th in the Southern League Premier Division Central. The next match is away to bottom club Long Eaton United on Tuesday evening then it is back to FA Cup action next weekend with a visit to Barwell, who play in the same division.
