A Bromsgrove golf club teen has capped off another trophy-laden season.

Jake Jeff-Johnston has retained his British Junior Order of Merit in the under 14s division.

The Barnt Green resident, 13, won the title with two rounds to spare.

He also won the British Junior Golf Tour's Tour Championship, at The Royal Norwich Golf Club on Sunday, October 20.

Jake also claimed the European under-13 three-day championship at Le Touquet in France.

He has also qualified to play in the Junior World Championship in San Diego in July next year.

Jake said: "I'm really pleased to have won the order of merit as I’m one of the younger players in the U14 division.

"To also win the Tour Championship in bad weather conditions was icing on the cake.

"Having also won the European title this year and heading to the World Championships in 2025, I have a lot to look forward to as well as defending the British and European titles next year."

Jake achieved all of this while managing his type one diabetes - a chronic life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas produces little or no insulin - which he was diagnosed with aged eight.

This means he must monitor his blood sugar levels whilst playing golf and administer insulin when required.

November marks National Diabetes Month, and the 13-year-old is supported by the paediatric diabetes team at the Alexandra Hospital.

Jake's long-term ambitions is to obtain a golf scholarship to America and play for the boys England squad.

He was first introduced to the sport by his father, Mark, and hit his first golf ball when he was just two-and-a-half years old.

Jake has been a member at Bromsgrove Golf Club for the last nine years and attends St George's School in Edgbaston.
