A YOUNG swimmer from Bromsgrove won gold at the Worcestershire County Long Distance Championships.
Olivia Gardner, 13, won the 800 metres freestyle race in a time of nine minutes 32.77 seconds in Worcester, setting a new county record in the proccess and coming close to a national qualifying time.
She also finished third overall against swimmers four years older than her in the open category.
The Aston Middle School pupil, who lives in Finstall, trains with Wyre Forest Swimming Club and has enjoyed steady improvement under the tutelage of head coach Alan Bircher.
