A student from Bromsgrove Preparatory School will represent the West Midlands at the Great Britain National Triathlon Championships in September.
Abbie Saker, 12, earned her place following success at the SuperTri Children’s Open Water Triathlon at Eton Dorney, where the Olympic rowing competitions will take place.
Saker had a fantastic race and won by an impressive 19 seconds, a time which would have placed her third out of a hundred competitors had she been racing against the boys.
Only two girls from each of the nine England regions plus Scotland and Wales are selected to compete in the prestigious championships.
