HARLEQUINS hooker Max Crumpton is facing a disciplinary hearing after allegedly striking Worcester Warriors captain Gerrit-Jan van Velze.
Crumpton was cited following Quins’ 47-33 Gallagher Premiership victory over Warriors at The Stoop on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the first half and the Rugby Football Union said Crumpton had been charged with allegedly "punching or striking” the Worcester number eight, contrary to Law 9.12.
Crumpton is now due to appear before an independent disciplinary panel in London on Wednesday.
If he is found guilty, the entry point for a lower end offence of this nature is a two-week ban.
It is six weeks if it is found to be mid-range and 10 weeks at the top end.
