WORCESTER Warriors are waiting to find out whether their England under 20s stars will be available for Sunday’s Gallagher Premiership showdown with Leicester Tigers at Sixways (1pm).

Centre Ollie Lawrence and flanker Ted Hill returned from international duty to make an impact off the bench in Warriors’ 47-33 defeat at Harlequins last Saturday.

The duo started in England’s 31-19 victory over France in the U20 Six Nations the previous week with Hill named as captain for the first time.

Head coach Steve Bates is preparing his side to take on Wales at Colwyn Bay on Friday (7.05pm) and will announce his squad tomorrow morning.

But the Worcester News understands Lawrence and Hill could remain at Warriors to boost boss Alan Solomons’ selection pool ahead of their crunch clash with Leicester.

It has been a busy season for the two 19-year-olds as they have made 25 first-team appearances between them and represented their country.

Hill also won his first senior England cap in November when he came on as a replacement against Japan in the autumn internationals.

But having worn the Red Rose from an early age the Worcester-born back rower says he is used to juggling club and country commitments.

“I have been lucky enough to be involved the age group stuff for a while,” Hill said.

“I was told when I was younger that you need two different mind-sets when you are playing for club and country as they want different things from you.

“It is a challenge but I am enjoying it.”

Hill said he also relished the opportunity to lead out England as they bounced back from their defeat to Ireland to beat France.

“It was an amazing experience and great to run out with those guys,” Hill said.

“To be given the captaincy was an honour.

“It was not something I had done since the under 18s but I loved it. It was good fun.

“There are a lot of good leaders at Worcester like GJ (van Velze) and Millsy (Ryan Mills) so (leadership) is something you can learn.

“But for me it is a less about shouting and more about leading from the front.”

Should Hill be involved for Warriors this weekend he will hope to get his boyhood club back to winning ways after their loss to Quins.

The academy star came on for the remaining 23 minutes at The Stoop and helped to salvage a try bonus point for Worcester who are five points clear of bottom club Newcastle Falcons.

“There are definitely positives to take out of it but overall we are disappointed,” Hill said.

“Credit to Harlequins because once they get their tails up they are a hard side to stop.

“But we just need to make sure we are switched on for 80 minutes.

“There is nothing negative going around at the club at the moment.

“We are in a positive place so we will regroup and come back stronger.”
