WORCESTER Warriors have helped to turn Josh Adams into a top-class wing according to his international teammate George North.

The Ospreys ace was full of praise for Adams who shone in this year’s Six Nations on his way to three tries in five matches as Wales took the Grand Slam.

Adams will move to Cardiff Blues this summer following a stellar four seasons in England where he has scored 35 tries in 60 games so far.

And North believes the freedom given by Warriors for the 23-year-old to express himself has helped him on his way to international stardom.

“Josh has been part of professional rugby at Worcester for a few years, so he understands the pressure you can be under,” North said.

“What has been great is he has been allowed the freedom to do what he wants and what he needs to do to get into games.

“He has taken that chance with both hands and it is brilliant to see.

“He will have a big impact for the (Cardiff) Blues.

“They are building something good down there at the moment but only time will tell. He is a quality player and his skills will shine through.”

Adams has an enviable record in the international jersey, with 10 wins and just one defeat when he plays for his country.

And North is backing Adams to shine at the Rugby World Cup later this year when the tournament begins in Japan, with Wales beginning their campaign against Georgia on September 22.

“Josh is an incredible player with a great work ethic who wants to just keep getting better,” North added.

“With the 60-cap rule in Wales it forces your hand.

“Fair play to Josh for making it clear he wants to come back [to play in Wales] and pursue his international career.

“The form he has now means he is a great position to follow that up. He has great skill and he is hungry.

“He showed that over the Six Nations campaign.”

Another Welsh colleague Leigh Halfpenny also expects Adams to go from “strength to strength” for club and country.

“Josh has come in and been outstanding on the field and off the field,” Halfpenny said.

“He’s a top guy and he’s been incredible in a Welsh jersey.

“I’m delighted to see him playing well and he always came to the fore at important times during the Championship.

“He had a fantastic tournament and some of the tries he scored and the moments he created during the game were outstanding, he played a huge part in the Six Nations.

“Obviously it’s great to see Josh commit to Wales, he has ambitions to play for Wales and with the 60-cap rule in Wales he had to return to play in the country.

“It’s great to see him committing to his Welsh career and I expect he will only go from strength to strength for club and country as he has all the ability.”
