SCOTT van Breda will become the second Worcester player to head out on loan as he joins former Greene King IPA Championship club Jersey Reds on a week-long loan deal.

Van Breda arrived at Sixways from Jersey in the summer of 2018 and is in line to re-appear for them in Saturday’s match against Saracens at the Stonex Stadium.

The agreement with Jersey will give the South African important game time during a period when there have been no Premiership Rugby Cup or Shield matches due to COVID-19 and the Championship season only got underway last weekend.

The Premiership Cup returns next month and will allow Worcester's fringe and younger players some much needed and deserved minutes.

Last season van Breda had two short loan spells with Southern Kings, another of his former clubs, in the Guinness Pro-14 competition. He previously played for Western Province and Stormers before joining Jersey in 2017.

Van Breda, 29, has made 18 appearances for Warriors, his most recent against Pau in the European Challenge Cup in December.

He will be the second Warriors player in loan action this weekend following lock James Scott who starts for Glasgow Warriors against Ospreys in the Guinness Pro-14 at Scotstoun on Friday evening.
