TRIUMPHANT cricket stars will show off their T20 Blast trophy in Worcester tonight as the city unites to celebrate their success.
A civic reception takes place at the Guildhall after the Rapids, Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s T20 team, roared to success after beating Lancashire and Sussex at Edgbaston to lift the trophy on the club’s maiden Finals Day appearance.
Mayor of Worcester Jabba Riaz will roll out the red carpet for the ceremony where fans have the chance to see the silverware on the steps of the Guildhall, from 8pm.
Cllr Riaz said: “This year has seen a resurgence in the white ball game. To reach the finals has been brilliant. Hopefully a lot of these players will go on to play for England. Beating Lancashire is a fantastic achievement. We should be proud of our team.”
The event starts at 7pm, with music and big screens, the players will be there from 7:50pm presenting the trophy.
