Eurovision Song Contest hopefuls Electro Velvet are hoping they will be able to bring the trophy back to the UK.

Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas are representing the country at this year’s competition in Vienna on May 23, with their electro-swing song Still In Love With You. It has been written by David Mindel and Adrian Bax White.

Alex, 35, said: “We’re going to do our best. That’s all we can say. We do our best and hope it goes our way.”

Bianca, 26, added: “We’re just so proud to be representing the UK. Eurovision is something you grow up watching and you never dream you’ll be a part of so (I’ve got) an incredible sense of pride and excitement, and feeling honoured.”

She said to follow last year’s winner, Conchita Wurtz, would be a dream come true.

“That’s the dream,” she added.

It has been 17 years since the UK won with Katrina And The Waves, who performed Love Shine A Light at the 1997 ceremony.

Bianca continued: “It’s been a long time. We’ve tried different things – well-known artists, unknown artists, all different genres so we’re just trying something new yet again.

“This is a genre that’s never been tried before so we hope that it goes our way. We’re just going to do our best. We’re proud to be doing it.”

The first semi-final will be shown live on BBC Three on May 19, followed by the second semi-final on May 21 before the grand final on May 23, which will broadcast live on BBC One and BBC Radio 2.
