Congestion with new housing

9:54am Friday 31st October 2014

I ATTENDED a Taylor Wimpey session at the Holiday Inn regarding their plans to build some 1,200 houses along Perryfields Road, this coming hot on the heels of the proposal for 490 homes in Whitford Road which was recently turned down, although I understand the developer is already appealing against this.

Council must act

11:00am Monday 27th October 2014

REGARDING the article “Bromsgrove not reaching recycling target”.

Village or town

9:00am Saturday 25th October 2014

HERE in Romsley village I feel to get better public services, there should be a rethink on removing the word village to more appropriate like, town?

Stick to the facts

1:00pm Friday 24th October 2014

I WAS disappointed to read the letter (17/09/14) from D Bourne who blames the Labour Party for the shortage of housing, schools and hospitals, which he attributes to Labour’s alleged ‘open door’ handling of immigration. This suggests that immigration is the sole cause of all of the so-called problems that he has highlighted is just complete nonsense.

A big thank you

1:00pm Tuesday 21st October 2014

IT’S TIME to put pen to paper and say thank you to the three ladies who helped me up in St Michael’s churchyard on August 8 in Stoke Prior.

Time for change

12:00pm Monday 20th October 2014

WELL done Steve Colella, Hagley Ward Councillor for last week’s comments.

What a circus

12:00pm Sunday 19th October 2014

AFTER nearly a decade of hype by Bromsgrove Council, it appears that development of the Sainsbury and Market sites could be in doubt.

Open gardens raise £4,217

9:00am Saturday 18th October 2014

TWO gardens in Marlbrook opened this year for the National Gardens Scheme – Oak Tree House on the Birmingham Road and Round Hill Garden in Braces Lane, and raised £2,866 for NGS charities, plus £501 for the Basement Project from the sale of tea and cakes.

Blame the Tories not immigration

10:00am Monday 13th October 2014

I WAS disappointed to read the letter from D Bourne, who blames the Labour Party for the shortage of housing, schools and hospitals, which he attributes to Labour’s alleged “open door” handling of immigration.

We should be proud of poet

10:00am Saturday 11th October 2014

WHY is Bromsgrove Council so ashamed of AE Housman?

High Street now looks a lot better

9:00am Friday 10th October 2014

AFTER months of hard work by the contractors and council staff, the town’s High Street was re-opened at the end of August, giving full and easy access to all areas, with better passageway past market stalls.

No sign of end to saga of the tip

3:16pm Wednesday 8th October 2014

I ATTENDED the Marlbrook Tip Cross Party Working Group at the Council House in September.

Thanks for help

10:00am Monday 6th October 2014

THANK you to three ladies who helped me in St Michael’s churchyard, Stoke Prior on August 8.

Traders satisfied

3:00pm Sunday 5th October 2014

I WOULD like to respond to Cllr Mallett’s letter in this paper from September 10, regarding his comments about the renovation of Bromsgrove High Street.

Highway code

1:00pm Saturday 4th October 2014

COULD drivers who go through the crossroads at the top of town, where Stourbridge Road, Birmingham Road and Market Street meet, please note that it is not exempt from the Highway Code, and that you should still a) not stop your car on the pedestrian crossing areas; b) not continue driving over pedestrian crossing areas whilst people – including children – are still crossing; and c) not glare maliciously at annoyed pedestrians if you, the driver, are in the wrong.

Quick thinking

8:00am Friday 3rd October 2014

WITH reference to your front page story ‘Steam Rally up in smoke after blaze’ (September 17), I was also an eyewitness and I have a number of comments.

Reason for crisis

10:21am Thursday 2nd October 2014

D. BOURNE (September 17) is correct in identifying out-of-control immigration as one of the main reasons for the crisis in housing and public services and is correct too in attributing the greatest responsibility for this to the last Labour Government.

Action needed for town centre

11:00am Monday 15th September 2014

I WRITE in respect of your coverage of the ‘”opening” of the longpromised, newly-renovated Bromsgrove High Street, albeit now only partial due to funding shortfalls and ongoing questions over when and if Sainsbury’s is coming to the town.

Prices driven by a lack of supply

10:00am Sunday 14th September 2014

I WAS saddened to read the headline in the Bromsgrove Advertiser: “Celebrations as plans for new homes are rejected”.

Leisure Centre let-down on way

1:56pm Thursday 11th September 2014

HAVING used the facilities available at Bromsgrove’s Dolphin Leisure Centre from its opening in the 1960s to the present day, I’ve been closely watching the council’s plans for the centre’s replacement, which they consulted the public about in 2010 with a questionnaire.

Put the focus back to health

12:00pm Saturday 16th August 2014

LET us hope Bromsgrove Council’s mistaken decision to pull down the Dolphin Centre and to replace it with an inferior building will be reconsidered.

Take note of traffic fears

3:43pm Thursday 14th August 2014

THE application for development at Whitford Vale goes back to the planning committee tomorrow for determination.

Extra drivers add to upset

3:39pm Thursday 14th August 2014

THE current Western “bypass”

Roads are not political tools

12:00pm Sunday 10th August 2014

I WRITE in respect of the recent article “The time is now for bypass action”.

Think twice about the zoo

10:00am Saturday 9th August 2014

A TRIP to the zoo may sound like a fun day out for children, but it is certainly not the best way to educate youngsters about protecting the world’s wildlife.

Protecting us should be key

11:00am Friday 8th August 2014

CAN Bromsgrove Council, its enforcement officers and the town’s CCTV camera operators tell readers what exactly they are doing to stop goods and delivery vehicles from crossing through No Entry signs and entering onto the pedestrian thoroughfare to deliver to shops in our town?

A grand old mess in the town centre

3:18pm Thursday 7th August 2014

AT the time of writing, August 1, I see the High Street improvements in Bromsgrove still have some way to go to completion. I believe we were told the contract was from February until July.

No free parking for the festivities

9:00am Monday 21st July 2014

WHAT a great day me and my family had at the Droitwich Festival.

Council to get us off the ground

9:00am Sunday 20th July 2014

JOHN Ellis misses the point when he complains about the expense of the Bromsgrove Council trapeze display in the High Street (Your View, July 9).

Feeling ignored by the organisers

11:00am Saturday 19th July 2014

AFTER seeing the article regarding a Bromsgrove resident’s anger at the fact the council are spending £15k of the tax payers money on a French trapeze act for the festival (April 16, Bromsgrove Advertiser), I had to write in.

High price for the high wire act

2:00pm Friday 18th July 2014

I AM all excited after reading about the trapeze artist who is apparently booked at the princely sum of £26,000.

Do you know my long lost sister?

10:13am Thursday 17th July 2014

AM trying to contact my sister Patricia McManus, nee Goode.

Back ethical health groups

11:00am Sunday 13th July 2014

IN recent issues of the Advertiser there have been several articles about good people fundraising for various charities connected with health and medical research.

Bus staff just ticket for son

3:00pm Saturday 12th July 2014

I WOULD like to say a great big thank you to Babs the escort and Paul the driver, from Bromsgrove bus and coach company, who have transported my son to Rigby Hall School for the last year.

Friar fest was just fantastic

12:00pm Saturday 12th July 2014

I JUST wanted to thank Stuart and Graham from the Old Cock Inn in Friar Street for the fantastic show they organised on Sunday.

Trapeze act is £26k travesty

2:00pm Thursday 10th July 2014

I WAS shocked and horrified to read that Bromsgrove District Council is spending £26,000 on a trapeze display in the High Street on July 19.

Merger looks on the cards

3:53pm Wednesday 9th July 2014

I HAVE no wish that any part of Bromsgrove becomes a suburb of Birmingham or Redditch either – well said Councillor Hardman.

Big oh yey to the town crier

2:00pm Monday 30th June 2014

A VERY big thank you to Kevin Ward, our wonderful Town Crier, for making a little boy’s pirate-themed eighth birthday extra special when we met at St John’s Churchyard on June 7.

Store charity push's £835

12:00pm Sunday 29th June 2014

REDDITCH & Bromsgrove Branch of Parkinson’s UK would like to thank everyone who contributed to our collection at Sainsbury’s on Saturday, June 7. A great result of £835.67 was achieved.

Thanks for mad hair day

1:00pm Friday 27th June 2014

I WISH to thank staff and pupils of Witton Middle School, Droitwich, for supporting my daughter in raising awareness of a genetic condition she has, Neurofibromatosis 1, a condition whereby tumours grow on nerve endings anywhere in or on the body.

Pure folly of parish change

1:00pm Thursday 26th June 2014

I NOTE that Councillor Steve Colella has called for a reorganisation of Hagley and Clent parish.

Estate plan is outrageous

10:36am Wednesday 25th June 2014

YOUR excellent report last week on the proposed housing development in Whitford shows clearly that the developers and the county council planners have no new plans to make this development workable.

So proud of the staff at the Alex

9:00am Monday 23rd June 2014

THE Alexandra Hospital has had a great deal of bad press in recent years, resulting in threats of closure and downgrading.

Council got it right by listening

12:00pm Saturday 21st June 2014

WELL done to all who responded to the bus subsidy consultation a few months ago.

Doing a good job so far

12:00pm Saturday 21st June 2014

ANYONE who has concerns (Letters, June 12) regarding Healthwatch has the opportunity, like all of us, to raise his views and comments at public meetings of the Acute Trust Board, the Clinical Commissioning Group Board, the County Council Health and Well Being Committee and Healthwatch itself.

Join the debate on the Middle East

12:00pm Thursday 19th June 2014

PETER James Bridle of UKIP exhorts us all to be nicer to and about each other (Letters, June 11) as if the fact 500,000 unskilled British workers have been displaced since Poland joined the EU were mere coincidence and that British universities and prisons are used as recruitment grounds by Islamic extremists as a dispute in a children’s sandpit.

Healthwatch has vital role

11:28am Wednesday 18th June 2014

IF it might help Mike Marshall’s letter last week feel a little more assured of the role of Healthwatch, could I share my experience?

Forum's success

10:00am Saturday 14th June 2014

ON behalf of Droitwich Spa Area Forum for Older People, I would like to thank everyone who supported our recent coffee morning, held at the Tea Cups Tearoom, Gurneys Lane, Droitwich.

Thanks for support

1:00pm Friday 13th June 2014

WE would like to thank the Bromsgrove Advertiser and everyone in the Bromsgrove for supporting the Stroke Association’s Action on Stroke Month in May.

Think more about milk

9:00am Thursday 12th June 2014

CONGRATULATIONS to the campaigners who petitioned Worcestershire County Council not to allow the culling of badgers on its land (“Pleas to end ‘unscientific’ TB culls on council lands”, Advertiser, May 21).
