BBC Breakfast presenter Graham Satchell has thanked fans for their “kind tweets” after he broke down in tears on air.
He was reporting on the Paris terror attacks aftermath, from in front of Paris’ Place de la Republique, where flowers and messages have been left. He started the broadcast saying: “The feeling here in Paris has certainly changed significantly since we arrived on Saturday, when Paris was virtually a ghost town.”
He managed one more sentence before becoming visibly upset, and handing back over to the studio.
Later he thanked people on social media for their kind reaction.
Users on Twitter were quick to offer him words of encouragement.
One user urged him not to apologise for being human.
After all, every story has a price attached to it.
And it’s true, this tragedy has affected us all.
Some found his emotion refreshing.
Others thanked him.
