Bad news, Adele fans: you won’t be able to hear her 25 on Spotify.
Not yet, anyway. The streaming service confirmed that Adele was not making her new album, which is out on Friday, available to them – although they hoped that might change.
In a statement reported by the Guardian, Spotify said: “We love and respect Adele, as do her 24m fans on Spotify. We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy 25 on Spotify alongside 19 and 21 very soon.”
The same reportedly goes for all streaming services, including Apple Music.
She hasn’t followed in the footsteps of Taylor Swift and taken all her music off Spotify – her first two albums are still there.
Even so, fans were upset.
Some thought it was a wise decision on her part.
Some thought there was a double standard in the way she and Taylor had been treated over the issue.
Some thought she was just encouraging piracy.
But mostly people were just really upset.
You’ll all just have to go old school and actually buy it.
