Rapper Lil Twist, a former close friend of Justin Bieber, has been sentenced to a year in jail for assault and burglary.

The 23-year-old musician entered a no contest plea to a string of charges related to an attack in LA’s Miracle Mile in November 2014, prosecutors said.

The rapper had attended a party which he was asked to leave when he slapped a man in the face, LA County District Attorney’s Office said.

He returned later with a group of people who jumped and subdued the victim, before Lil Twist kicked him, according to prosecutors.

It has been reported that the victim in the attack was Nickelodeon actor Christopher Massey.

Lil Twist, whose real name is Christopher Lynn Moore, faced charges of first-degree residential burglary; assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury; assault with a deadly weapon, brass knuckles; grand theft and first-degree robbery.

He pleaded open to the court and was immediately sentenced to one year in jail and three years of formal probation. An open plea is one made to the court when there has been no disposition agreement with prosecutors.

The rapper, who featured on the 2013 song Twerk with Bieber and Miley Cyrus, is set to surrender to an LA court on February 3.
