AN exhibition at a Bromsgrove library provides a fascinating insight into a town cemetery, dating back to the 1850s, and the historic figures buried there.
The John Adams Memorial Restoration Group, made up of the Bromsgrove, Housman and Victorian societies, Bromsgrove District Council, and Avoncroft Museum, are working together to restore the John Adams Memorial Cross in Bromsgrove Cemetery.
The group is also researching the history of important burials, monuments and unusual trees at the cemetery, in order to produce a Historic Trail.
As part of its work, the group has put together a display which has gone on show at Bromsgrove Library, in Stratford Road.
The exhibition includes images of the gravestones of historic figures, together with their stories, and the history of John Adams and the cemetery.
Also included is information on John Adams’ connections with the Housman family, the origins of the Perry Hall estate, the Cotton Pool and the making of indigo nearby, as well as pictures of the original cemetery buildings.
The display is open to the public until the end of the December.
