POLICE are appealing for the owner of a bull mastiff cross which attacked another dog in Bromsgrove to come forward.

On Saturday, January 19, two girls were walking their Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Heidi, on the Tollhouse Road and Granary Road green.

Between 5.30-5.45pm, a bull mastiff cross attacked Heidi, puncturing her neck. The force of the attack pushed the 13-year-old girl, who was holding Heidi’s lead, to the floor.

After the dogs were separated, the bull mastiff cross’ owner walked away.

The man, who is in his 30s and was wearing glasses, is believed to be a local man as he has been seen walking dogs in the area before.

During the time of the incident he was walking with two dogs, and neither were on leads.

Heidi was taken to the vets for treatment as the attack pierced five holes in her neck.

Immediately after the incident Paul Cutler, the girls’ dad and Heidi’s owner, looked for the dog owner, but he could not be found.

Mr Cutler said: “The thing that made me most angry was that the man walked away - leaving two young girls crying.

“The owner of the dog didn't have the decency to apologise.

“We are offering a reward for information to help find the owner.”

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: “This was a very scary incident.

“We are appealing for the dog’s owner to come forward, as we want to speak with them about this incident.”

The owner, or anyone who believes they know who the dog owner is, is asked to call non-emergency number 101.
