AN event has been organised to celebrate 130 years of a church and community centre serving Bromsgrove residents.

St Godwald's Church and Community Centre opened in 1884, serving residents in Aston Fields, Finstall and the surrounding areas.

To mark the anniversary, residents are being invited to a event being held at the community centre in Finstall Road on Sunday, June 7.

The event features community and church groups stalls, a Songs of Praise service in the centre's garden, play activities for children, the serving of strawberry tea in the Ruth Heald Room, and an art exhibition that features the work of pupils from nearby Aston Fields Middle School.

The event starts at 2pm, and is expected to end at 5pm after the winners of the art exhibition are presented with their awards.
