THE Bromsgrove group Words, promoting interest in the written and spoken word, is holding its next event this Friday, September 19.
International best-selling author Antonia Fraser is appearing at the event taking place at the Artrix Theatre in School Drive.
Antonia has written acclaimed historical works including Mary Queen of Scots, The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Warrior Queens.
Her book The Gunpowder Plot: Terror and Faith in 1605, has a narrative gripping the reader like a detective story, and dramatically recreates the conditions and motives that surrounded the fateful night.
It also explores the tangled web of religion and politics that was played out across Europe, in Westminster and in the lanes, houses and hiding places in Worcestershire.
Antonia Fraser was made a DBE in 2010 for services to literature, and is the widow of the playwright Harold Pinter.
She published a memoir of her life with Pinter, Must You Go?, in January 2010.
Her talk will focus on the gunpowder plot and her new work Perilous Question: the Drama of the Great Reform Bill 1832.
The event is being held at 8pm.
Tickets are priced at £12 for adults, £6 for students.
