STAFF and customers of a Bromsgrove salon have been celebrating after raising thousands for charity.

Perfections Hair Studio, in the Courtyard in the Strand, held a number of fundraisers to raise money for Cancer Research UK over the past six months.

Various items were sold including cakes, crafts, sweets, pamper evenings, raffle tickets, organic fruit and vegetables, handmade knitted baby clothes, homemade jam and second hand books.

The fundraising culminated in a 24 hour relay event at RGS The Grange school in Worcester in September. Two teams, called the fun razors and mini fundrazors, competed to raise money for the charity.

Salon owner Emma Parkins said she was proud of what had been achieved and felt humbled by the efforts of friends, family, colleagues and customers.

She added she wanted to thank hair salon customers who had donated weekly to their fundraising effort as overall an impressive £8,789 was raised.

The money is being donated to Cancer Research, which helps pioneer research to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
