A BROMSGROVE woman has been in training to take part in a world famous marathon run.

Kym Beacham, from Catshill, will be lining up alongside thousands of other runners at the start line of the London Marathon on Sunday, April 26.

The 37-year-old has been building herself up for the 26.2 mile challenge over the past six months through several half marathons, and a 20 mile challenge in Gloucester.

Kym is taking part in the event to raise money for Tommy's, a charity that funds medical research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, while also providing information on having a healthy pregnancy.

The Advertiser featured one of Kym's fundraising events in September - a successful table top sale and coffee morning that was held at Catshill Village Hall.

Kym said she chose the charity as it was something she and her husband, Jon, had personal experience of as she suffered numerous miscarriages and had several failed IVF attempts.

"Tommy's was the perfect choice for all the wonderful work it does to help prevent couples going through the pain and loss myself and my husband Jon have," she said.

"I have raised a total of £4,500 so far and I am hoping to hit the £5,000 mark.

"Training has been great - I've done many events."
