TWO people have been taken to hospital following a head on collision, which closed the Stourbridge Road in Bromsgrove during this morning’s rush hour.

The collision occurred just before 9am this morning , just north of the junction with Broad Street when a blue Volkswagen Polo was in collision with a white Vauxhall.

Hereford and Worcester fire crews attended the scene, extricating a man in his 60s from one of the cars almost immediately, and then working to free a woman who had become trapped in the other car.

Two ambulances were also called out to the scene. The man, who was the driver of one of the cars, was reported to have been suffering from neck pain, as well as pain in his right side, chest pain, and pain in his leg. He was immobilised and taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

The woman was also taken to the Alexandra Hospital by ambulance.

The road was closed to traffic for several hours, while the incident was cleared.
