AN acclaimed poet from the West Midlands is due to visit Bromsgrove Library next month as part of National Libraries Day.

The visit by poet Liz Berry, will be the first to be organised in the new Parkside development, and is being supported by Poetry on Loan, a scheme which works with local libraries in the West Midlands to promote new poetry.

Liz will be reading from her own work, as well as answering questions, and there will be copies of her poetry collection ‘Black Country’ available to buy.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for localism and communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: "Liz is a very well-respected young poet and we are delighted to welcome her to the new Bromsgrove Library. With the visit falling on National Libraries Day, it is wonderfully appropriate that guests will enjoy an evening of poetry."

The event is taking place on Saturday, February 6 from 6.30pm with doors opening from 6pm. Tickets are £2.50 which includes a complimentary drink, and they can be purchased from the library in person, by writing to bromsgrovelib@worcestershire.gov.uk or by calling 01905 822722.
