PRE-SCHOOL children at School House Private Day Nursery in Dodford will begin a Balanceability course to prepare them for learning to ride a bike.

The ten weekly sessions will develop pupils’ motor skills, spatial awareness, dynamic and static balance and teach them how to pick up, manoeuvre, mount and dismount their bikes safely.

Glenis Keenan, managing director of the nursery, said: “It has been fantastic to see the children develop over the course of the programme and to see how much they have enjoyed it.”

Nursery nurse, Sarah Nicholls, completed the Balanceability training, enabling her to teach the children to cycle safely using specially designed equipment and balance bikes.

Three and four-year-old children have recently completed level one which helps children gain the confidence to glide a balance bike with their feet off the floor.

Nurseries Chessgrove Park in Hanbury and Woodland House in Beoley are next to receive the training.

All of the children have received stickers and achievement certificates for completing the course.
