POLICE in Bromsgrove are warning shoppers to stay on alert after a woman noticed that a nearby man had unzipped her bag on Bromsgrove High Street.
She had been unaware of how close the man was standing, and only noticed him when he was holding her bag by the straps while she was browsing in a clothes shop.
Luckily she was alerted to the man’s presence, and although he got away, nothing was taken.
Bromsgrove Police have issued a warning to shoppers that their handbags and purses should be securely fastened and kept in secure areas, while personal belongings, including mobile phones, should be kept in an inside coat pocket or bag.
People should avoid carrying large amounts of cash around, and people should not keep their PIN number anywhere near their bank cards.
