BROMSGROVE's beloved Love 2 Love nightclub has finally closed after 10 years on Worcester Road, leaving clubgoers wondering what they can expect from the bar taking its place.

The Advertiser can now reveal that 57 Monkeys, set to open at the venue on September 30, will cater for a range of music tastes, hold live band nights, and implement a strict dress code.

Mike Taylor, who took over the venue six months ago, said: "Aesthetically it will be changed dramatically. All the walls have been stripped, the seating has been stripped. Everything will be different."

Once decorated, the new bar is intended to look like an industrial warehouse, finished with timber and bare brick walls.

The playlists will also be refurbished, with the downstairs and upstairs rooms set to play varying genres on different days of the week.

On Friday nights, there will be an RnB or commercial set downstairs, while house music blares out upstairs.

Commercial songs will be played in the main room on Saturday nights, with different genres, including rock, playing upstairs each week.

For the first time in the venue's history, there will also be live bands playing earlier on in the evening every other Saturday, before the bar transforms into a nightclub.

"Glam Thursdays" will take place on Thursday nights, with doormen coming over from Hurst Street in Birmingham.

Mike said: "We want to keep it fresh so we don't want people to come to the venue one month and then come again the next month and it be exactly the same. We want to attract other people that wouldn't ordinarily come to the club and offer something a bit different."

To further enhance the club's reputation, 57 Monkeys will have a strict dress code, with doormen granting entry to those "dressed to impress" on an individual basis.

Several bars and pubs in Bromsgrove will also be following this code as part of the new "Bromsgrove Zone" scheme, aimed at improving the town's nightlife as a whole.

57 Monkeys will open its doors to the public on Friday, September 30. There will then be an American punk rock night on Saturday, October 1 and the club's first live band night on Saturday, October 8.
