THREE men, who were arrested at the Frankley Services near Bromsgrove on Saturday, reportedly hid in the trailer of a lorry as it passed through Calais that morning.

The articulated goods vehicle had left France that morning, but it was not until the lorry reached the M5 motorway, between junctions three and four, that the driver heard banging behind him.

The driver called police and West Mercia officers were sent to the scene to detain the men, who claimed they were from Syria, Iran and Iraq.

They were arrested for suspected immigration offences.

Police contacted Immigration Enforcement at around 2pm that day, and all three men have been interviewed by immigration officers.

A spokesman for Immigration Enforcement said: "Their cases will be progressed according to the immigration rules. Where someone has no right to remain in the UK, we will take action to remove them."
