COFTON Park will play host to a family fun day on Sunday to mark the start of National Brain Injury Week.

Rednal charity Headway has organised the event, to take place between 12 and 4pm on May 7, featuring a bouncy castle, face-painting, dog agility, penalty shoot-out, a raffle and tombola.

In addition to the fun day, Headway will be running daily activities with clients throughout Brain Injury Week (May 7 to 14), and inviting carers to a wellbeing and relaxation evening. The week will conclude with 'Survive the Wild', a Bear Grylls-style challenge in the Peak District.

The theme for this year's events is 'A New Me', encouraging people to talk about the impact brain injury has had on their lives and those close to them.

Nancy Khan, carer services manager at Headway, said: "The family fun day is the first event of the week, and we hope people will make a note of the date and come along on Sunday afternoon to join in the fun.”

A barbecue, cake stall and ice cream van will be offering refreshments on the day.
