AN urgent fire safety review into Worcestershire County Council-owned buildings found none in Bromsgrove with the same aluminium cladding used in Grenfell Tower.

In the wake of the Grenfell tragedy on June 14, the council confirmed several buildings were thought to contain Aluminium Composite Material cladding, but further investigation has found that none countywide fall into the government's high-risk category.

Cllr Karen May, cabinet member for transformation and commissioning, said: "The safety of our residents, our pupils and our staff is a top priority. We have an excellent fire safety record and robust processes are in place here in Worcestershire.

"Following the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower in London we launched an immediate fire safety review. On inspection we have found that none of our buildings have the type of aluminium cladding that was used at Grenfell Tower. Curtain walling is used on some of our buildings but there is no increased fire risk associated with curtain walling.

"We have no schools or council buildings in Worcestershire that are over 18 metres high or fall into the high risk category as defined by the government."

At least 80 people died in the North Kensington blaze. Inquests to determine their cause of deaths are ongoing.
