A BROMSGROVE charity set up in memory of two-week-old baby Libby Mae Sharratt is celebrating its 5th anniversary, having raised more than £300k.
Libby Mae's Little Angels was launched by parents Charlotte and Richard on July 26, 2013, just weeks after their baby daughter died from a heart condition at Birmingham Women's Hospital.
The pair, who live in Catshill, asked for donations to the hospital instead of flowers, and set up the charity as a result of the overwhelming response to their plea.
The charity has since provided state-of-the-art equipment to neo-natal units across the country to improve the experience of babies and their families.
Co-founder Charlotte said: "Five years ago today our charity was formed. It wasn't a big deal. We just wanted to raise a few quid.
"When Libby died we wanted to give something back to say thank you to the hospital that had done so much - made us feel at ease when times were tough, given us a shoulder to cry on.
"We had £5,000 in the bank - enough for seven comfy chairs - and we were delighted with that.
"We never imagined in our wildest dreams that the charity would grow to where we are now - £300k raised and a name that so many people know.
"Libby Mae has a legacy. She's part of our everyday lives. Her little brother Riley knows all about her and to us that's so important."
Three-year-old Riley sang 'Happy Birthday' to the charity to mark the milestone.
